Scannell Properties Celebrates First Stone Ceremony at Warehouse in Atton, France
Specialist logistics developer, Scannell Properties has marked a significant milestone with the first stone ceremony for its logistics project in Atton. When completed the state-of-the-art, sustainable warehouse will offer 31,600 square meters of flexible space, strategically located close to the A31 motorway, connecting Metz and Nancy. Construction, overseen by Quartus, commenced in July 2024 and completion is scheduled for April 2025.
A Commitment to Sustainability
The Atton project underlines Scannell’s strong commitment to environmental protection at its projects and compliance to France’s ZAN (Zéro artificialisation Nette) law. Located on a brownfield site, the planned building will revitalise disused industrial land into a modern logistics hub. Targeting BREEAM Excellent certification, the development incorporates numerous sustainable practices, including:
- Biodiversity Preservation: Nearly 28,000 square meters of existing vegetation will be retained and enhanced, with 400 meters of ecological corridors restored and created.
- Natural Water Management: The design includes landscaped ponds to facilitate rainwater infiltration and mitigate flooding.
- Renewable Energy Production: The installation of 6,400 photovoltaic panels across 12,000 square meters of roofing will generate energy equivalent to the lighting needs of a community of 2,000 residents.
- Decarbonised Heating: The building will be fitted with heat pumps to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions associated with heating.
Hugues Desbarrières, Directeur Général Adjoint, France of Scannell Properties France, stated,
