Our Community

Creating Impact Beyond Square Footage

At Scannell Properties, community investment is an extension of our development philosophy. We prioritize meaningful engagement in the communities where we build — supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and create lasting impact.

Employee-Driven Volunteerism

Our culture emphasizes participation. Employees across departments regularly volunteer their time in support of charitable organizations, reinforcing a shared sense of purpose beyond our service to clients.

Whether supporting food banks, youth mentorship programs, housing initiatives, or community revitalization efforts, our team members actively contribute their time and expertise. This engagement strengthens both our communities and our internal culture.

Industry Involvement and Educational Outreach

WIRED

Scannell Properties’ WIRED (Women in Real Estate Development) program is designed to foster genuine connections, spark the exchange of ideas, support ongoing learning, and build a vibrant community among women in commercial real estate.

Committed to celebrating and growing our representation of women in commercial real estate, WIRED hosts a two-day event in Indianapolis providing opportunities to connect with colleagues, give back to the community and participate in professional development.

As the initiative evolves, Scannell plans to expand to engage young women and girls in the community, introducing them to the various career opportunities available across the commercial real estate industry and helping them envision a future in the field.

Industry Involvement

Scannell is heavily involved with organizations invested in advancing the commercial real estate industry. Our team’s participation in these organizations strengthens both our internal leadership and the broader commercial real estate community.

Supporting the Next Generation

We recognize that leadership extends beyond project delivery. It includes responsibility for cultivating the next generation of commercial real estate professionals.

Shiley Case Competition

The Shiley Real Estate Development Case Competition, established by Ralph and Cathy Shiley, allows students at Indiana University Indianapolis’ Kelley School of Business to solve a real work appraisal and development problem.

University Involvement

Scannell Properties’ Purdue University and Indiana University alumni routinely host panels with real estate students sharing insights into career paths and experiences in the industry.
