Scannell Properties strengthens German team with retail expert Moritz Löbbert

Scannell Properties, the real estate development and investment company specialising in large-scale industrial and logistics projects, has appointed Moritz Löbbert as Development Director in Germany.

Based in Düsseldorf, Löbbert will focus on acquiring land for development as Scannell continues to grow and build on its success in Germany, having already developed and leased 10 projects in the country since launching in 2019.

A qualified engineer and urban planning expert, Löbbert has almost a decade’s experience of acquiring land and developing retail real estate projects. He joins from ALDI-Nord, where he was Real Estate and Expansion Manager for the north-east of Germany. Prior to that, Löbbert worked for Lidl as Real Estate Portfolio Manager. He has a successful track record for finding unique development solutions to unconventional sites in urban areas; having completed over 30 land acquisition and development projects predominantly in the Berlin/Brandenburg metropolitan area.

Commenting on the new appointment, Jordan Corynen, Managing Director DACH and Benelux at Scannell Properties, said:

“Germany is one of our main growth targets for Scannell and having spent the last decade working in-house for major occupiers, Moritz brings an understanding of what tenants want and need from their logistics accommodation in this key market. His wealth of retail real estate experience, alongside his knowledge of the German planning system and in particular sustainable development practices, will be hugely beneficial as we continue to actively look for new land and projects in key locations across Germany. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Moritz Löbbert added:

“After many successful years working in retail real estate, I am very aware of the transformation happening across the logistics sector as it continues to modernise and embrace new social, economical and technological advances. Research shows that Germany is the most mature ecommerce market in mainland Europe and also has the largest requirement for last-mile space in Europe. Scannell has made significant progress in this important market already thanks to its financial independence and impressive ability to respond quickly and flexibly to changing market conditions and customer needs. I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues and bringing my experience and insights to further benefit our clients.”
