Scannell Properties starts construction on LogistikPark Diemelstadt in Central Germany
Scannell Properties has started construction on LogistikPark Diemelstadt, a sustainable logistics development in the Northern Hesse region of Central Germany. The start of works was marked in a breaking-ground ceremony attended by Mayor Fritz and a number of local and regional officials.
LogistikPark Diemelstadt benefits from direct access to the A44 providing strong links to domestic and international transport hubs and the A33 and A7 motorways. This provides excellent transport routes to the most populous regions in Germany and Europe, with 22 million consumers located within a three-hour drivetime.
The logistics park is being built to a modular design that will provide highly flexible logistics and ancillary office space of up to 68,000 sq m, which can be divided into smaller units to suit tenant requirements.
In line with Scannell’s commitment to sustainability, LogistikPark Diemelstadt is targeting a DGNB Gold status certification. The new building will be equipped with a range of energy-resilient features to reduce its carbon emissions and impact on the environment; including modern heat pump technology, green roofing, a photovoltaic system, LED lighting, a grey water system and e-charging stations will also be available across the site. Social and outdoor spaces, designed to enhance employee wellbeing, will also make up part of the new logistics park.
Jordan Corynen, Scannell Properties Managing Director of DACH and Benelux, said:
“Due to its strategic location and flexible, energy-efficient design the park will be well suited to large-scale national and European distribution operations. We are in the relatively early stages of the project’s construction but have already received interest from a number of potential tenants who feel LogistikPark Diemelstadt meets their evolving business needs.
“I would like to thank Mayor Fritz, his administration, the local and regional authorities, whose professionalism, cooperation and local knowledge are instrumental in progressing our plans for this site. We look forward to making this project a success for them, their local community and the businesses who will operate here.”
Andreas Fritz, Mayor of the City of Diemelstadt, added:
“The town of Diemelstadt is delighted to have Scannell Properties, a highly professional real estate developer here in North Hesse who is now driving this major project forward with determination and speed. The logistics park with direct highway access will create new jobs for the region and further strengthen and supplement the local economy”
LogistikPark Diemelstadt, due to complete in early 2025, will be Scannell’s largest project to date in Germany.
Scannell Properties has appointed LIST Bau Nordhorn as general contractor for the construction. Active marketing of the park’s available space has begun, with CBRE acting as letting agent.
