Scannell Properties delivers fully leased building to Life Science Logistics, breaks ground on next building, in master-planned Durham 85 Industrial Park
Scannell Properties, an international commercial real estate developer, has delivered the first building in the master-planned, seven-building Durham 85 Industrial Park to tenant Life Science Logistics, and has broken ground on the second building. The second building is a speculative development.
Life Science Logistics occupied the completed rear-load, 249,600 SF building in May and is using it for shipping and logistics for the pharmaceutical industry. The structure has 337 parking spaces and 66 trailer spaces.
“Our latest expansion in Durham represents our commitment to support the growth of the healthcare industry in North Carolina and the specialized logistics required to safely store and distribute healthcare products on behalf of those who need them,” said David Cheetham, CEO, LifeScience Logistics.
On June 17, Scannell Properties broke ground on another 249,600 SF building in the park. Moving forward as a speculative project, the rear-load structure will have a 32-foot clear height with 27 dock doors, and parking for 67 trailers and 222 autos. Scannell Properties expects to complete this building in late spring 2025.
Durham 85 Industrial Park is located on the southeast corner of Junction and Ferrell roads, less than a mile from I-85. With easy access to all freeways, the site is less than 10 minutes away from the Research Triangle Park, and just 16 miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
“With Life Sciences Logistics as the first tenant, a strong local market and an unbeatable location, we are confident in moving forward on a spec basis on the next building in the Durham 85 Industrial Park development,” said Andy Smith, development manager, Scannell Properties. “We have approvals on two additional buildings and are determining when to break ground on those.”
