Scannell Properties acquires 22,500 square metre site at Montornés del Vallés, North Barcelona
Scannell Properties, the real estate development and investment company specialising in large-scale industrial and logistics projects, has acquired a 22,500 sqm site in Montornés, 20 km north of Barcelona, Spain. Scannell will redevelop the land with a 13,500 sqm logistics platform, due to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.
The new building will be designed for logistics, distribution and e-commerce companies that require a modern, last-mile, high-flow distribution centre. Scannell will be targeting a BREEAM Very Good certification as part of the design, reflecting its commitment to developing sustainable spaces in all markets where it is active. The logistics warehouse will incorporate a number of eco-friendly features including provision for photovoltaic panels, LED lighting throughout the building and electric vehicle charging points.
The site is located extremely close to Barcelona (a 23-minute drive to the port), in the Vallés industrial zone. There is easy access to the AP7, which connects Barcelona to France, and it is adjacent to the Barcelona-Catalunya Formula 1 motorsport circuit.

This will be the company’s second speculative project in the Barcelona market, following its acquisition, in June last year, of a 41,500 sqm site at Santa Perpetua de Mogoda, where it is developing a 21,000 sqm logistics facility.
