461,778 SF Package Distribution Center Completed in Quincy, Massachusetts

Scannell Properties, in collaboration with the design build firm, Dacon Corporation, has completed the renovation of a state-of-the-art 461,778 SF package distribution center in Quincy’s Marina Bay area.

The renovations will allow Scannell to lease the building to a national last mile delivery service company. The building will encompass a sortation center to handle high product and trucking volumes and the increasing package volumes due to the surge in ecommerce growth.  The facility will address the growing demand from Boston and the surrounding suburbs.

The building has been modernized and repurposed, and the features of the renovated building include:  Two existing full bays that were removed to make room for an additional 150-foot truck court; an exterior 90,000 SF one-story outdoor parking structure that is eco- friendly, including perimeter sound wall(s) and roofing, and a combination of roof skylights and translucent panels installed in the perimeter walls to protect the existing salt marsh / wetlands.  Interior upgrades include new MEP/FP systems; a TPO roof and 9,000 SF of office space.

Scannell’s Managing Director Tim Elam says, “This is a great infill project close to downtown Boston and there was significant collaboration between all members of the team to make this project a reality. We love to tackle these tough assignments and deliver great real estate assets.”
